Marian Broomhead
I live in Blaby, married to Peter, we have 2 sons who both attended Stokes Primary School, Leysland and Countesthorpe collage. I have two Grandchildren who now live in Dorset.
I was first elected as a District Councillor from 2011-19 when sadly I was not re-elected. During my time as a District Councillor, I was Chairman 2015-16 which was a great honour to represent the District Council. I am proud that I was successful in nominating one of the leaders of Blaby Scouts for an Achievement Award. She had many years of volunteering, helping numerous young people that she had been involved with and the deserved recognition.
I am now entering my 19th year as a Blaby Parish Councillor. I find it very rewarding being involved with shaping the local community. I enjoy being part of the two big events organised each year the Summer Funday and the Christmas Light switch on. As a Parish Councillor I will be involved with the extension of the cemetery and improvements to Northfield Park.
I have an NHS background and I currently Chair the Northfield Medical Centre Patient Participation Group. Patients, Doctors and Staff views are sought on how things are working or need improving and how we can best support the staff and patients.
I have been involved with Connect Blaby Together, for the past 4 years, helping residents with shopping, gardening and befriending, we were in a good place when Covid came along with so many volunteers who came forward and helped. I am also involved with the Churches Together and the Scouts group and Service Personal putting together the Remembrance Service each year. also enjoy walking, reading and fundraising.
