William “Bill” Liquorish (1941 – 2023)
It is with great sadness that the South Leicestershire Conservative Association learned of the passing of William “Bill” Liquorish on the 3rd of November 2023.
Bill served his community in Whetstone and Broughton Astley with great distinction. In his time, he was a member of the Whetstone Parish Council, and following his move to Broughton Astley he served as a District Councillor at Harborough District Council and then County Councillor at Leicestershire County Council.
Bill was a long-standing Chair of the Planning Committee at Harborough. He also became Chairman of both the Harborough District Council and the Leicestershire County Council raising funds for his nominated charities during his civic years.
Bill also served as a Magistrate for 26 years first on the Castle Bench and then on the Leicester Bench only stepping down when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Bill was a stalwart of the Broughton Astley Conservative Club serving as its Chairman for almost 20 years overseeing a number of improvements at the Club.
Bill was a popular member and great supporter of our Conservative Association. We will miss his friendship and his wise counsel. We send our condolences to Bill’s family and his many friends.
